Journey Into Space : Operation Luna
Parts 1 to 13.
A science fiction radio serial from the 1950s, featuring Captain Jet Morgan and his crew.
First broadcast in 1958, the serial is set in the far distant future of 1965. The astronauts are on a mission to make the first manned landing on the Moon.
Jet Morgan and his team are in Australia, preparing for Operation Luna, man's first trip to the Moon.
Although first heard live on the BBC in 1953, the original recordings of this serial were deemed unsuitable for re-broadcasting due to their poor technical quality, so they were junked and the serial was re-recorded using improved technology. The re-recorded episodes were then broadcast in the UK in 1958.
Starring Andrew Faulds as Jet Morgan, Alfie Bass as Lemmy Barnett, Guy Kingsley-Poynter as Doc, and David Williams as Mitch. Other parts are played by John Cazabon and David Jacobs. With music composed and the orchestra conducted by Van Phillips. Written and produced by Charles Chilton.
Update : In August 2025 I corrected a long-standing error in the file names, and forced the page to re-derive the links to the in-page media player. The former fault which caused errors when playing the recordings in the in-page player, above, has therefore been fixed. The episodes should play normally now.
